MondoSearch, the extremely popular and well used site search tool, was recently updated with a new feature release (Version 5.4). Along with several accumulated bug fixes, the release included some key enhancements and features. These include:
1) Content Optimization - This great new feature will allow site administrators to include rule based content manipulation at index time. The feature allows for several built-in rules as well as Regular Expression based rules to be applied to the stored content at crawl time. This includes adding page based content exclusion rules as well as metadata to indexed pages. This can improve ranking, force ranking, and even add content to be displayed or actioned at search time.
2) Site Map Indexing - Many sites are now leveraging a sitemap to assist global crawlers to index content.
